DESCRIPTION:Courtney Collins Fine Art is thrilled to announce the upcoming exhibition of renowned artist Dennis Bredow\, titled Striking West. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, July 2\, from 5 PM to 7 :30 pm for an evening of art\, inspiration\, and community as we celebrate with Dennis.  \nThis series of ten large-scale mixed media paintings is inspired by vintage Western matchbooks—small objects once found on motel nightstands\, bar counters\, and diner tables. Designed to be both useful and promotional\, matchbooks were utilitarian by nature yet often beautifully crafted\, evoking a sense of place and memory though limited by a few square inches. This body of work seeks to do the same—creating artifacts that draw the viewer in and offer a memory of a place and time. By dramatically increasing the scale\, these paintings invite us to pause and truly see what we might otherwise dismiss.

The concert takes place in Len Hill Park in the Big Sky Town Center and is family-friendly and free! Food and beverage vendors will be available. Please remember that NO DOGS\, NO GLASS CONTAINERS\, and most importantly\, NO PERSONAL FIREWORKS are allowed in the park. The Park opens at 6 p.m.\, with music starting from emerging artist Ben Larson at 6:30 p.m. Yarn will take the stage at 8 p.m. \nTonight’s Headlining Band\nYarn\nYarn’s ability to persevere ought to come as no great surprise\, especially for a band that spent two years honing their chops during a Monday night residency at the famed Kenny’s Castaway in New York’s Greenwich Village. In effect\, it allowed them to rehearse onstage\, mostly in front of audiences that often ranged in size from five to a hundred people on any given night. Five studio albums followed — Yarn (2007)\, Empty Pockets (2008)\, Come On In (2010)\, Almost Home (2012)\, and Shine the Light On (2013). The band then took to the road\, playing upwards of 170 shows a year and sharing stages with such superstars as Dwight Yoakam\, Charlie Daniels\, Marty Stuart\, Allison Krauss\, Leon Russell\, Jim Lauderdale\, and The Lumineers\, eventually surpassing 1\,000 shows\, half a million miles\, and performances in nearly every state. \nIndeed\, the accolades piled up quickly along the way. Yarn has landed on the Grammy ballot four times\, garnered nods from the Americana Music Association\, placed top five on both Radio and Records and the AMA album charts\, received airplay on Sirius FM\, iTunes\, Pandora\, CNN\, and CMT\, and was even awarded the “Download of the Day” by Rolling Stone. Their ability to connect with audiences through heartfelt lyrics and genuine stage presence continues to earn them a devoted following across the country. \nTonight’s Emerging Artist\nBen Larson\nBen Larson developed his storyteller ways over years of hitchhiking and wandering with his guitar from Australia to Newfoundland and a thousand places in between. He lives in a hand-built homestead in Philipsburg with his public school teacher wife and two loony cowdogs.
