Meet the Artist reception on Friday\, April 5 from 5:00 – 7:00pm\, open to all. \nBrandon is a contemporary figure/landscape painter\, primarily working with oil paint. Born and raised in Western New York\, he currently resides in the Old Mining City of Butte\, Montana. Brandon discovered his passion for painting at the age of seven. Fascinated with the sunflowers of Van Gogh\, those paintings planted the seed of a blooming passion.  As an adolescent\, he began studying oil painting with a local artist named Joan Saba. In early adulthood\, he set off to acquire a BFA in painting\, starting that journey at Pratt MWP\, where he spent a full year learning the fundamentals of the visual language. \nDissatisfied and filled with naivety\, he attended a semester at SUNY Fredonia learning old the master techniques of grisaille\, chiaroscuro\, human anatomy and controlling the limited pallet. A man with a troubled mind\, he left to do what John Muir did\, and headed out west\, spending several months in Yellowstone National Park. \nUpon his return to Buffalo\, he decided to continue his painting education at SUNY Buffalo State College and complete a BFA in painting\, where he learned the nuances of color\, composition and the use of narrative from Professor Joseph A. Miller and Professor Lin Xi Jiang. \nBrandon is a published artist and has been in several regional and national group shows.

DESCRIPTION:Art & Soul\, original landscape photography by Ryan J. Drewes\, begins June 1 and will run until June 28th. Ryan’s works explore the journey from here to there and everything in between. Stop in to see his phenomenal work. \nAdditionally\, there will be a Meet the Collective Members reception on the First Friday of the month Friday\, June 7 from 5-7pm. It is open to all and the Artists encourage everyone to come\, meet the artists\, have a bite to eat and enjoy all of the art. \nAbout Ryan: \nRYAN J. DREWES \nWhere do I even start? I’d like to tell you that I have a masters in photography and went through numerous years of training to get where I’m at today\, but that would be a lie. What got me here was simply life! In 2011 at the age of 31 I bought my first digital camera\, and that would be my entry point into photography. Something just clicked internally for me\, and as the years went by\, I kept receiving numerous compliments about the photographs I had been taking. I shot and I shot and I shot\, slowly learning and creating photographs that sometimes go against the norm of what is/isn’t recommended. During the summer of 2022\, I finally built up enough self-confidence to start presenting my work to the public. The response has been overwhelming to the say the least. My current portfolio includes images from the surrounding Big Sky\, Montana area\, as well as my travels throughout the years. I’m always surprised at what people buy! Sometimes a photograph triggers a memory from a family vacation\, or speaks to the individual at a deeper level. Some have called my work unique and different. The fact that people are buying my stuff and hanging it on their walls still blows my mind. I’m just an ordinary boy on a self healing journey\, continuing to find my way through this crazy jungle we all call life. DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Big Sky Farmers Market will take place every Wednesday from 5-8pm\, June 5th-September 25th in Big Sky Town Center (Market stretches from Town Center Plaza\, along Town Center Ave. and over to Fire Pit Park). Please note that for the month of September the Fall Markets will downsize to a smaller venue tentatively at the Town Center Plaza. \nApplications forms can be filled out and submitted HERE. Applications will be reviewed by our team for approval with an emphasis towards local/regional farmers\, professional artisans\, young artists/entrepreneurs\, and community organizations – all with a goal of helping to foster and maintain a market that is true to our Big Sky mountain culture.
