October: Town Center Improvements

Throughout October, you might notice some equipment moving around as the LMLC team conducts site grading and light utility work near Tips Up and in the parking lot adjacent to BASE. This early utility work is paving the way for future projects, including the upcoming public restroom facility. Thank you for your understanding as we work to enhance Town Center.

September 9-13: Community Road Work Update

South of Spanish Creek South

Crews will conduct bridge repairs on Lava Lake Bridge this week. Travelers can expect single lane traffic Monday, September 9 through Friday, September 13, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Plan for 15-minute delays while traveling through the project area. Please note there will be a 12-foot width restriction in place during operational hours.

September 3-6: Community Road Work Update

Looks like there will be some disruptions on 191 next week, the below information was received from MDT:

Tuesday 9-3 – Routine roadway inspection for hazards and damage, picking trash and dead animal removal for both US 191 and MT 64. 

Wednesday 9-4 – Crack Seal operations for US191 from mile marker 56-59. Will have one lane closed and will be using flaggers with speed reduction down to 35. Travelers can expect some delays.

Thursday 9-5 – Crack Seal operations for US191 from mile marker 48-49, 50-52. Will have one lane closed and will be using flaggers with speed reduction down to 35. Travelers can expect some delays.

Friday 9-6 – Crack Seal operations for US191 from mile marker 38-40. Will have one lane closed and will be using flaggers with speed reduction down to 35. Travelers can expect some delays.

August 19: Community Road Work Update

Community Road Work (August 19-23)

  • MT 64 Tiger Grant Project
    • Seal and cover (chip seal) work is complete and temporary striping has been placed. Crews will return in a few weeks to conduct permanent striping activities.
    • Construction is taking place in the Kircher Park area. No traffic impacts are expected.
  • Turn Bay North of Gallatin Gateway
    • Crews will finish mailbox and sign installation north of Gallatin Gateway on Tuesday, August 20 and Wednesday, August 21. Travelers can expect reduced speeds from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
  • South of Spanish Creek South
    • There are no construction activities anticipated this week between Storm Castle Road and the Lava Lake Trailhead.

August 12: Community Road Work Update

**Please be advised that the chip seal that was supposed to take place Monday and Tuesday of this week has been delayed to Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect single lane closures, reduced speeds and loose gravel from 7am-7pm both days.

Gallatin County, the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), and Riverside Contracting Inc. continue construction on the MT 64 TIGER Grant project. Here’s what you can expect the week of August 12.

Montana 64

Seal and cover (chip seal) activities will occur throughout the project area on Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13. Drivers can expect single lane closures where active chip sealing is taking place. Please be mindful of reduced speeds and loose gravel following chip seal work.

Turn Bay North of Gallatin Gateway
Crews will finish mailbox and sign installation north of Gallatin Gateway. No traffic impacts are expected.

South of Spanish Creek South
There is no anticipated work through this portion of the project.

August 5: Community Road Work Update

Community Road Work (August 5 – 9)

  • MT 64 Tiger Grant Project
    • Gallatin County, the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), and Riverside Contracting Inc. continue construction on the MT 64 TIGER Grant project. Here’s what you can expect the week of August 5.
    • Concrete crews will install an Americans with Disabilities (ADA) ramp on the shared use path near Huntley Dive. A weigh scale pad will be added in the wildlife turnout west of the US Highway 191 (US191) and Montana Highway 64 (MT 64) intersection. Minimal to no traffic impacts are expected while concrete work is conducted.
    • Concerns regarding current pavement markings will be addressed in the coming weeks with paving and chip seal activities.
  • Turn Bay North of Gallatin Gateway
    • Crews will install signage north of Gallatin Gateway. Minimal to no traffic impacts are expected.
  • South of Spanish Creek South
    • Final striping activities will take place between Storm Castle Road and the Lava Lake trailhead in the next few weeks; however specific dates have not yet been determined. Minimal traffic impacts are anticipated while striping occurs.

July 30: Community Road Work Update

Community Road Work (July 30 – August 2)

  • MT 64 Tiger Grant Project
    • Shared-use path realignment will be completed this week, weather and other factors permitting. Paving activities on the shared-use path and the pedestrian underpass may begin late in the week. Path and pedestrian underpass closures will be necessary during construction.
    • Paving operations west of the intersection of US Highway 191 (US 191) with Montana Highway 64 (MT 64) will begin this week, weather and other factors permitting. While paving operations are underway, drivers can expect single-lane closures and flagger-controlled traffic. Please plan for extended delays.
    • Concerns regarding current pavement markings will be addressed in the coming weeks with paving and chip seal activities.
  • Turn Bay North of Gallatin Gateway
    • Sign installation and delineator work will occur north of Gallatin Gateway. Two traffic lanes will be open, but drivers can expect reduced speeds through the area.
  • South of Spanish Creek South
    • No active construction is anticipated between Storm Castle Road and the Lava Lake trailhead.
