The community of Big Sky and the members of Big SkyTown Centercelebrated the holidays in style.

The firstSaturday in December saw dozens of children stand in line to tell Santa whatthey wanted for Christmas while sitting on his lap.The Town Center Owners Association, in conjunction with Big Sky Build, The Rootfor Life and The Big Horn Boutique, hosted the 2nd Annual Pancakes with Santa at the Simkins-HallinShowroom in early December. The popular event featured a pancake breakfast foryoung and old, movies on a big screen, and the chance to have your picturetaken with Santa.

December 12th saw the first combined BigSky Stroll, Stay and Ski event. The Big Sky Town Center and Meadow Village businesses teamed up to make the event a true community event by hosting their events and open houses on the same night. Activities included sleigh rides, a scavenger hunt, photos with Santa, smores at the bonfire, and ski movies projected on a large outdoor screen. Entertainment was provided by theDickenson Carolers, Chrysti the Wordsmith, and a performance by the Grinch. Businesses stayed open late, hosting open houses for the community, and many featured great holiday sales. As the snow started to fall, a fireworks show topped off the outdoor festivities and people then made their way into Choppers Grub and Pub for live music and libations.

Shuttle busses provided by Bucks T4 and the new Montana Mountain Express, made visiting both locations a snap, and Big Sky Resort generously offered a weekend stay and ski package for strollers. Saturday, the Big Sky Chamber hosted their annual Boots and Belles Ball at Bucks T4.

Several businesses also collaborated on a food drive for the Gallatin County Foodbank, providing over 450 lbs of food to area families. A toy drive in conjunction with the Big Sky Rotary and MOMs club provided Christmas for seventeen kids and the Rotary gave holiday food boxes to four families. There were 170 angels on the tree at the Post Office, and over 200 gifts were received.

Generous business sponsorship made the event possible, and their support and feedback is greatly appreciated. Businesses and restaurants were busier than anticipated on stroll night, finding strollers having a great time and shopping locally!

We want to thank everyone who participated, and especially to the community of Big Sky for supporting this wonderful holiday event. We’re hopeful that this year’sevent is just a taste of what’s to come at future events!
