Lone Mountain Ranch, Montana’s premier cross country ski resort, has just announced it will host the first annual Glide & Gorge trail luncheon on March 8, 2009.  Ski enthusiasts and foodies can ski or snowshoe along the Ranch’s world class trails, stopping along the way for gourmet appetizers, soups, entrees and desserts provided by the Ranch’s four star kitchen.  Local breweries and wine distributors will be on hand to provide the perfect accompaniment for each dish.
“Here at the Ranch we wanted to share our two winter passions with the community and visitors to Big Sky, Nordic skiing and food!”  said Herb Davis, Director of Skiing and Activities and organizer of the Glide & Gorge.  “Not only are we passionate about these, but we think we can provide the ultimate in both experiences for those that join us on what I’m sure will be great event!”
The Glide & Gorge will begin at 1:00pm and run until 3:00pm.  The first stop will be the Ranch’s Nordic Ski Shop where participants can check in and snack on Appetizers and samples from Lone Peak Brewery to the folk and bluegrass sounds of local band Slim Pickins’. Then, it’s on to the next station to sample such delights as Venison Chili and Cornbread. After a short ski, fill up on tasty offerings such as Bison Kebabs, Lamb Brochettes and Shrimp Satay. Fruit cobblers, chocolates, cookies and brownies are the reward at the final station…the perfect ending to a delightful and tasty ski!
Shuttles will run from the Nordic Center to the Meadow, though skiers wishing to work up an appetite are welcome to glide down to the meadow on one of the ski loops.
Entry to the Lone Mountain Ranch Glide & Gorge is $25 for pre registration (by Wednesday, March 4) and $30 on the day of the event for those with a LMR trail pass and $35 and $40 for those in need of a pass. To register or for more information please call 406/995.4644.
