In January, the Town Center received approval from the Big Sky Planning and Zoning Advisory Committee and the Gallatin County Planning and Zoning Commission for a Zone Text Amendment that allows Indoor Sports and Leisure Facilities (defined as: Including but not limited to health and fitness/exercise facilities, swimming pools, performing or visual arts center, concert hall, ice skating rinks, tennis courts, basketball and other court games, and climbing facilities) and Outdoor Sports and Leisure Facilities (defined as: Including but not limited to tennis courts, basketball and other court games, ice skating rinks, swimming pools, health and fitness/exercise facilities, pavilions, band shells, and climbing facilities) as Permitted Uses in the commercial district, and Conditional Uses in the residential district. This is the first of two steps in permitting the new Big Sky Community Band Shell that is being proposed in the Town Center. After it’s permitted and built this summer, the band shell will host the Arts Council of Big Sky’s free Music in the Mountains summer concert series.
