Skyline announces the release of its Main Winter bus schedule, which will begin on Friday, December 11, 2009 and run through March 28, 2010. This service will feature two Canyon Mountain routes, one Mountain Loop route and one Meadow Circulator route for rides around Big Sky and the Link Express Route for rides between Bozeman and Big Sky. Schedules for this service are available online at www.skylinebus.com and in print at transfer points, the Big Sky Chamber and participating businesses.

In addition to announcing the new schedules, Skyline would like to note the increase in their ridership in Fiscal Year 2009. Skyline’s second full year of service saw an increase in rides on both the local buses and on the link bus. They provided 113,010 local rides and 47,449 rides on the Link, for a total of 160,459 rides. This is an increase of 10.8% more rides in FY 2009 than in FY 2008.

“We are very happy with the ridership figures for our second full year in service,” stated David Kack, Skyline Coordinator. “The community continues to take advantage of Skyline's services, and we thank our many partners who provide an investment in Skyline to keep it running.”

Skyline is a year round public transportation system that provides service to local residents, commuters and tourists. The bus line operates five to seven days a week depending on season.  The Skyline service is free for riders. Funding comes from the local option sales tax (resort tax) in Big Sky; from Federal Transit Administration Section 5311 funds, which are administered by the Montana Department of Transportation; DreamCatcher Endowment, Inc.; Big Sky Resort; Madison County; and from Moonlight Basin's sponsorship of the Link Express.
