Summer visitors to Big Sky will have a great opportunity to enjoy our trail system here, with help from an updated complimentary trails map.  The Big Sky Community Corporation trails committee, with the support of a number of local businesses, has produced an entirely new map, portraying the immediate Big Sky area and detailing over 30 local trails.  The map itself is a true topographical map, scaled at one inch equaling one mile.  Graphics work for the map was done by Will Robertson of Beartooth Publishing in Bozeman, creator of award winning trails maps familiar to trails users throughout the West.  Other graphics work was done by Wendy Swenson, graphic designer for Big Sky Town Center, which graciously volunteered her as a resource to the project.
This new map should give visitors the information and confidence they need to begin exploring our trails resources here.  The intent of the BSCC trails committee is to more effectively promote trails as a recreational resource available in and around Big Sky.  Its volunteers work to both build and maintain trails here, with funding from grants, donors and the resort tax.
Maps are available at local businesses with ads in it, including Gallatin Alpine Sports, Grizzly Outfitters, Lone Mountain Ranch, Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin, as well as at the Chamber of Commerce and BSOA office.  The map references a number of other resources useful to trails users.  Further details about Big Sky trails are also available at the BSCC trails website www.bigskytrails.org
